Terms of Service

Last updated 8 July 2026

1. Who these terms apply to

These Terms of Service govern your use of MockPlaces (mockplaces.com), including the educator/organisation dashboard, the Test Center, and any account created through Google sign-in, email/password, magic link, or a licence code entered by a candidate. By creating an account or taking a test on MockPlaces, you agree to these terms.

2. Accounts and roles

MockPlaces has three account roles: platform admin, educator, and candidate. An educator may optionally create an organisation, in which case they become that organisation's owner and may invite other educators. You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you provide and for maintaining the confidentiality of your sign-in method.

A candidate account is created automatically the first time you verify your email against a licence code in the Test Center — no password is required. The same verified email is reused for every future licence code you enter, across any organisation.

3. Acceptable use

You agree not to misuse MockPlaces — including attempting to bypass Screen Integrity Monitoring, sharing licence codes outside their intended assignment, generating or distributing fraudulent certificates, or using the platform to harass, defraud, or impersonate others. We may suspend or disable accounts that violate these terms.

4. Exams, licence codes, and results

Educators are responsible for the content of exams and questions they create or generate with AI assistance, and must review AI-generated questions before publishing them — AI output is always a draft. Licence codes are issued at the educator's or organisation's discretion, including expiry dates, maximum attempts, and email restrictions. MockPlaces calculates results automatically based on submitted answers and the exam's configured pass mark; we are not responsible for disputes over exam content set by educators.

5. Screen Integrity Monitoring

MockPlaces monitors suspicious browser and screen behaviour during timed exams — including tab switches, window focus loss, fullscreen exits, and copy/paste attempts — and logs these events for the educator's review. We do not claim this guarantees the prevention of all cheating, and browser-based detection has inherent limitations, including with multiple monitors or devices.

6. Certificates

Certificates issued through MockPlaces are verifiable via a unique certificate ID and verification URL. Certificates reflect the result of a specific exam attempt and are issued by the educator or organisation that created the exam — MockPlaces is a delivery and verification platform, not an accrediting body, unless otherwise stated by the issuing organisation.

7. Fees

The Basic Plan is free. Premium Plan pricing is arranged directly with our sales team and confirmed in writing before any fees apply. MockPlaces does not currently process online payments or subscriptions through the platform itself.

8. Data and third-party services

MockPlaces uses Resend to deliver email (verification codes, results, and certificates), and may use Africa's Talking for optional SMS notifications. AI-assisted question generation may call DeepSeek, OpenAI, or Anthropic depending on what your educator account or the platform has configured. See our Privacy Policy for details on what data is shared with these providers.

9. Termination

We may suspend or disable an account that violates these terms, is used fraudulently, or poses a risk to other users. You may stop using MockPlaces at any time; certificates already issued remain verifiable independent of account status.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as MockPlaces evolves. Material changes will be reflected by updating the date at the top of this page. Continued use of MockPlaces after a change constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
